DEMEX was engaged as the principal contractor for the complete demolition of a 40,000m² site located in the suburb of Hamilton in Brisbane, Queensland.
The project involved an extensive asbestos removal program that included 18,000m² of corrugated roof sheeting removal and the remediation of 12,000m² of legacy asbestos dust contamination. Edge protection and static lines were used as fall from heights control measures to ensure the roof was removed in a safe and controlled manner.
DEMEX’s specialised 62 tonne demolition excavator was deployed to safely demolish one structure constructed out of precast concrete tilt panels while the remaining structures were safely demolished with DEMEX’s fleet of 30 tonne excavators.
