The demolition of the existing bridge was completed over 2 weeks of night works as the Centenary Highway remained operational during the day. Full lane closures and traffic diversions had to be executed each night and the site had to be cleaned and opened for traffic flow during the day.

Each evening the DEMEX team had a 9 hour window in which to orchestrate traffic control, clear the site and existing concrete barriers, bring in the heavy machinery and ensure road protection measures were in place which included bog mats and steel plates. Once night work was completed, all traces of demolition, debris, machinery, and road protection needed to be cleared and the highway reopened for use.

The proximity of the bridge to neighbouring residential area required noise vibration and dust emissions to be closely monitored and kept to a minimum.
