DEMEX was engaged as the demolition contractor for demolition of the Stapley Drive bridge passing over the Pacific Motorway (M1) on the Gold Coast. The demolition formed part of the major Pacific Highway upgrade works between Mudgeeraba and Varsity Lakes.
Prior to mechanical demolition, concrete barriers were removed and saw cuts were administered to release the post tension mac-alloy bars. On completion of the preparation works, DEMEX’s fleet of excavators were mobilised to site to systematically demolition the bridge in a safe manner in accordance with the demolition plan approved by an independent structural engineer.
The project was delivered safely without incident and within the proposed schedule.
