Callide Power Station is a 1,510 megawatt electricity power generator located near Biloela in Central Queensland. After a series of incidents in 2022, DEMEX was engaged initially by the client to undertake removal of the disassembled gas turbine from the site prior to commencement of subsequent works to demolish and remove two redundant cooling towers 200 metres in length, 20 metres wide and 15 metres high.
Accurately planned logistics, developed in conjunction with CS Energy played a key role in managing the transport of material from the site to the disposal point ensuring there was only a single crane mobilisation at each end to undertake heavy lifts.
Initial works were completed in 14 days and coordinated to align with the arrival of new material and equipment being brought to site for the upgrade projects.
