Demex was engaged to complete the demolition of the main building of the old Kingaroy Hospital
Contract works consisted of internal asbestos removal and the full demolition of the existing two story structure to make way for construction on the new hospital entrance and connect the refurbished Boomerang Building which remained operation through the demolition process.
Prior to the commencement of the demolition works, an extensive HAZMAT removal program was conducted due to the discovery of lead contaminated paint throughout the building requiring a variation to the methodology to ensure safe removal of this hazardous material.
The project delivery extended from an initial 4 week scope to 5 month with the discovery of asbestos in the soil which had to be remediated.
