DEMEX was engaged by the Gold Coast City Council to carry out the demolition and removal of the Scotty Logan Lane Bridge which crosses Tallebudgera Creek in Tallebudgera Queensland.
The project required demolition and removal of the existing bridge, and removal of the concrete piers. Waterway usage needed to be restricted around the vicinity of the bridge during the demolition.Â
After installing a silt curtain DEMEX engaged specialist saw cutters who worked off barges and used wire saws on a jig to separate the bridge spans from the piers. The detached bridge was then hoisted via a crane.
The project was successfully completed over four days due to the carefully mapped out process, excellent project execution, and time management of all contractors involved.
