DEMEX was engaged by the Fraser Coast Council to undertake demolition of the council’s main administration office, a multi-storey building located on Kent Street, a main thoroughfare through the town.
With the intention of making way for a new green space, the project involved multi-storey asbestos removal and full demolition, including the removal of foundations to 1,500 mm below ground. With a team of 12 workers comprised of DEMEX employees and local contractors, DEMEX undertook the significant asbestos removal works before commencing the structural demolition using a high reach excavator and 30 tonne excavator. In keeping with the project’s scope, DEMEX was required to reinstate a boundary wall and an entryway in the heritage building back to its original look.
